Share the wealth - Refer a friend

We've been long planning a referal system to encourage you to spread the word about YoBudget and earn a little something for your troubles, today we're introducing our Referal system where if you enter your colleague or contacts referral code, you'll earn 30% of their job award fees.

For example, if you referred a business who just won a £1000.00 job, they would usually pay YoBudget (excluding the current xmas promotion) £58.00, which is 5.8% of the value of the job - YoBudget would then pay you £17.40 which is your 30% share of this percentage.

With a lot of small jobs or a few larger ones this can add up really quickly and should really help us to grow, growth will be beneficial for all our users as more users mean more jobs, and more jobs means more to earn.

We've also been generous with this promotion and for each person you refer you can gain credit for either 5 months or 5 awarded jobs, whichever comes first - so you can be confident that your hard work will be rewarded appropriately!

Visit www.yobudget.com/?p=refer for full details on how you can start making money!

Tag - You're it!

We had a lot of requests and messages from people who were saying we had a lot of categories - but none specific to their area of expertise, this was something we'd always intended to avoid as a lot of categories can create clutter or confusion and we wanted our proposition to be simple.

We had a brainwave and decided to jump onto the Web 2.0 revolution and include powerful tags on both jobs and users in order push your job to the top of the pile where it's most relevent.

For example, say a Guitar Teacher signed up at YoBudget, they would probably choose 'other' as their area of expertise - this could potentially cause them to miss potential students and business - now a guitar tutor can set a few tags they want to watch out for, in this case it would be particularly effective for them to use the following words as tags 'Guitar', 'Tutor', 'Guitar Lessons', and 'Musician' - if anyone posted a job with similar or matching tags we'd send a notification where appropriate.

Our search system also now searches tags.

Christmas Promotion

We've created a promotion running for Christmas that will last right up until the end of January - we call it our Christmas Special or 'First job is free - then the rest are 99p.' and not only does our title rhyme when you say it out loud, it also represents potential huge savings on an already market leading proposition.

So the most you'll pay YoBudget for finding you a job until the end of January is 99p, and the first time we find you work it'll be totally free as our way of welcoming you, after January- we return to our small 5.8% fee based on the value of your quote.

We've also reviewed our fee structure slightly and have decided to cap the maximum fee per job to £499.99, this makes any jobs with a value of approximately £8,650 and over much cheaper for our users - making us the ideal choice for your larger jobs.

An introduction to YoBudget

So, for those of you who maybe find the blog but aren't too sure what we do at YoBudget we thought we'd share a little summary.

YoBudget is a website that connects anyone who needs a job doing - with the people who can complete the job.

We aim to cover anything from the development of databases, to kitchen refurbishment, childminding, accounting - anything you can think of we are aiming to cover.

We've tried to make the process really easy and streamlined it's as simple as posting a job description for free at www.yobudget.com and waiting for people who feel they can complete your job.

With the credit crunch showing no sign of slowing at the moment it's a good time to pinch the pockets and try to get jobs done as cheaply as possible, without having to sacrifice on quality.

Give us a try, it's no obligation and while we build up momentum we'll do the legwork to make sure you receive quotes.

VAT: How does this change affect YoBudget?

As of December 1st the V.A.T. rate within the UK is dropping from 17.5% down to 15% this means that any product and service liable to attract V.A.T. is going to be cheaper to the end consumer.

As a result this means you can make some great savings on jobs and listings at YoBudget.com, because your contractor, or service provider will be charging slightly less for V.A.T. on the products and service they provide you.

A little tip is to check that any services you recieve monthly, i.e. Mobile phone bills and other services are updated to the lower V.A.T. rate - most utility and service providers will update your bill accordingly - but make sure to check them because mistakes can happen.

Overall, as a consumer it's also a great way to buy products and services for a little less, particularly with Christmas coming up!
